Brain Cell 03:22
BRAIN CELL Lyrics: Jyrki Tuononen Welcome to my brain cell Have a look at my private hell Welcome, bring along wine Can't you see I’m just fine? Welcome Locked up in my brain cell You may enter, ring the bell Locked up, I’ve been doing time Fifty-odd years locked in rhyme Welcome Welcome, are we sitting tight? Don’t be such a sorry sight Welcome, are we feeling bright? Are we sure we’re all right? Welcome

Until The Day Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen It’s not the time for the barman to ring the bell It’s not the time for a sleazy kiss and tell It’s not the time to pretend it all is looks well It’s not the time to hang back, ask why the hell? This time I will get us through the night This time won’t give up without a fight This time we’ll stay up until it’s light This time our future will be bright Until the day when we’re sober, when we’re clean Until the day we learn we’re no longer teen Until the day everyone sees where we’ve been Until the day what I say is what I mean This time I will get us through the night This time won’t give up without a fight This time we’ll stay up until it’s light This time our future will be bright Until the day things are easy here on Earth Until the day we will see a better world…

Interference 03:32
INTERFERENCE Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen You interfere with me, I interfere with you Now we begin to see, there’s nothing we can do Why do we bother, prodding poking at each other We dwell on differences, stick to our preferences Homing in on the pain, well that’s insane Locked in eternal dance, can’t wake up from this trance We’re running out of luck, can’t switch, the gear is stuck Why do we bother, challenging annoying each other No matter what I do, I get remarks from you No matter what you do, I’m stuck with you Fine, it feels almost divine The end of the line, we’ve been biding our time No conversation without interference Interference We’re probing attitudes, exchanging platitudes Hide in formality, keep up normality Tossing and turning, for fear of seeing the bridges burning Handle with utmost care, regardless of what’s fair My dearest enemy, you’re stuck with me Fine, it feels almost divine The end of the line, we’ve been biding our time No conversation without interference Interference

Trauma shop 04:52
TRAUMA SHOP Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen Perfect at night, feeling sick in the morning The life of a high-flying star is never boring Fat by Christmas, thin by New Year Another headline with pictures fresh from the trauma shop Get a plan for life, call it destination Career in a strife, to entertain the nation Get high tonight, down and out tomorrow Ups and downs of fame fresh from the trauma shop Explosion - blow up the story Erosion - spill the guts and gory Emotion - never need to worry Cause it’s on the front page Explosion Erosion Emotion On the front of the magazine Together again, then drunken separation It is true, celebrity life calls for celebration Brilliant at night, pathetic in daylight Another headline with pictures fresh from the trauma shop Get a plan for life, then execute it Tell a big white lie, then refute it Flirt with the world, reap the consequences Always smile at the lenses, make it fresh from the trauma shop Explosion - blow up the story Erosion - spill the guts and gory Emotion - never need to worry Cause it’s on the front page Explosion Erosion Emotion On the front of the magazine

Chinese Way 05:46
Chinese Way Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen The latest news from the good ole white out house The market’s alive by a whisker of a mouse They are floating at ease, but they're owned by the Chinese The latest we heard from the Rottingham Palace No squeaking wheels in the Royal Carriage The fortunes of a nation saved by a marriage While we play our games the world will change in fundamental ways They're gonna sweep the market even with hands down they're gonna reach the target they're gonna rock this town They say pretty soon the man on the moon will have a yellow face as we go the Chinese way A May Day parade on the blood-red square The Oligarchs show-off in a vanity fair Yet another missed chance for the Russian bear The usual mish-mash of Brussels sprout Nothing will ever be too far out Nothing else matters but your personal clout While we play our games, the world will change in fundamental ways They're gonna sweep the market even with hands down they're gonna reach the target they're gonna rock this town They say pretty soon the man on the moon will have a yellow face as we go the Chinese way

Turn Away 04:08
TURN AWAY Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen And I will chase them away as long as madness roams Yes I will chase them until it’s safe And I will keep you safe until there’s a glimmer of hope Yes I will keep the horrors at bay Turn away, cover you ears Turn away, don’t look Turn away, stay low Turn away What you can see, is less than what you can hear How soon will strangers be here? Already chilling with fear Can we go anywhere? I’m becoming so weary Of the noise from above, the constant rumble of guns My senses are getting numb, just like everyone else We’re frightened to death, and holding our breath And I will chase them away as long as madness roams Yes I will chase them until it’s safe And I will keep you safe until there’s a glimmer of hope Yes I will keep the horrors at bay Turn away, cover you ears Turn away, don’t look Turn away, stay low Turn away (Stop the madness) And I will chase them away as long as madness roams Yes I will chase them until it’s safe And I will keep you safe until there’s a glimmer of hope Yes I will keep the horrors at bay Turn away, cover you ears Turn away, don’t look Turn away, stay low Turn away (Stop the madness)

THE BEST SONG’S YET TO COME Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen Amnesia today, oblivion tomorrow Will not know my name, the pain or sorrow The best song’s yet to come There will be some fun And games for May, help yourself in While we play The best song’s yet to come Will you join the song, or rather dance? Will you come along with our remembrance? The best song’s yet to come, there will be some fun And games for May, help yourself in While we play The best song’s yet to come The best song’s yet to come, there will be some fun And games for May, see yourself out While we play The best song’s yet to While we play The best song’s yet to While we play The best song’s yet to come

THIS SIDE OF THE MOON Lyrics by Jyrki Tuononen We’ve been drinking, sitting on the pier Waiting for the sea to rise We saw it coming, now that it is here Is that fear in our eyes? If I fall, will you run? The final call, no more fun We are all on this side of the moon Could we squander just a little more To take away some of the pain? A little blunder stopped the rolling ball A lot of sweat without gain It’s not for me to be strong Fight or flee, beat the gong Make yourself free On this side of the moon Got that, Roger, waters rising How come that was so surprising Now we are there at long last Although this has barely started Almost everyone’s departed To wipe the slate clean of the past And I know and I know That all is falling apart Should I go should I go And make a fresh start? Is it so is it so That we’re done for On this side of the moon?

about

Multinational rock band Test Animal Park celebrate their 20th anniversary this year with the release of their second album "Turn Away". The band was formed in 2003 when Jyrki Tuononen's old band discontinued, but new music seemed to be emerging all the time.

Tuononen, who lives in Belgium, discussed his new songs with his bass-playing compatriot, and they decided to see what they could make of them. They were joined by two other Finnish musicians, and while it was hard to find a drummer right away, eventually a Swede was found to fill the role.

As years went by, Jyrki wrote new songs at a steady pace, the band rehearsed regularly and make occasional gigs. The band’s line-up kept changing over the years. After ten years of existence, the band was about to shrink to a trio. Fortunately, they found Marko Säynekoski, who had just moved to the city, to play lead guitar. Around the same time, they decided to make a record with a part of the catalogue they had put together. The band's first album "Honestly" saw the light of day in 2014, and with the release of the album, things started to happen on the touring front. The future looked bright for the band.

Unfortunately for Test Animal Park, the band's line-up didn't seem to really settle down. Players kept coming and going, but Tuononen and Säynekoski didn't want to give up. As the corona virus swept across the globe, Test Animal Park was forced to take an involuntary breather. At the same time, the idea of finally making a new album was born. Also around the same time, the core duo was let without a bass player and a drummer, but despite this obvious handicap, the core duo did not give up on the aim of recording. They were helped by their long-time friend Albert Camphyn who joined as a bass player, recording engineer and also co-producer.

The trio worked on Tuononen's songs in the studio for about a year at a leisurely pace. The aim was to respect the core idea of each song while adding new influences from outside their usual sphere. The new compositions combine the edge of rock music with the delicate nuances of prog. At the core are the melodies, which together with lyrics weave emotionally laden soundscapes.

Ultimately, the trio was joined by Camphyn's old friend Stéphane Rossewy, who enthusiastically agreed to play the drum parts on the album. Following the mixing by Alain Steenhoudt and mastering by Mika Jussila, the album Turn Away is finally ready to hit the streets and to conquer the world.
